The structure and function of the plant cuticle have been studied in model plants as well as in apple and wheat. Molecular details of cuticle development have been elucidated, including participation of a WIN/SHINE type transcription factor in wheat cuticle formation.

Cuticle development of apple fruits has also been studied. This work shed light on participating genes and various compounds in apple cuticular biosynthetic processes. More recent research activities have focused on salt tolerance and fertigation of vegetables, especially in cucumber.
